Bringing you all the glitz and glam from the British Academy Film and Television Awards (BAFTAs), I’ve got a first-hand report from the red carpet! Yes, I was just inches away last night from the likes of Keira Knightley, Kevin Spacey and my new crush (and BAFTA best actor winner) Daniel Day-Lewis!My friend Nadia and I got up at the crack of dawn and made our way down to Covent Garden to queue for red carpet access wristbands. After lots of waiting, standing, and bonding by playing the celebrity name game and Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon with people (in which yours truly kicked some a**), the stars came out to shine and well, it was a chaotic celebrity-palooza I tell you! My head is still spinning (and throat is still hoarse) from trying to keep track of all the stars and from shouting to get their attention. Just call me paparazzi Pierce!
We’d landed a spot along the carpet smack-dab across from where all the television stations were interviewing the arrivals. Ryan Seacrest and E! were just a few yards away, along with the BBC, MTV, etc. At first we thought this would be a plum spot, but as the stars started piling up, they just stuck to that side of the carpet and made their way along the press gauntlet. The “Ones that got away” from our own cameras and autograph books included Sir Ian McKellen, the GORGEOUS Javier Bardem, the Stunning Emily Blunt, the Tiny (who knew?) Daniel (Harry Potter) Radcliffe , the balding (again, who knew?!) Hugh Laurie, and the best ‘couple’ of the night Jeff Goldblum and Kevin Spacey (who I’m seeing in Speed-the-Plow in March, so hopefully I’ll have another chance)
However, plenty of celebs Did make their way to us, including Keira Knightley (looking a bit naff with unkempt hair and an odd coat over her dress), Marion Cotillard looking like an angel in silver and white chiffon Chanel, the wild and wacky Tilda Swinton who was very fun and chatty with us, the equally funny and fan-friendly Ricky Gervais, LOTR hotties Viggo Mortensen and Orlando Bloom (who had this really cool group hug with Ian McKellen in the middle of the carpet…bless!) and last but not least, Daniel Day-Lewis. OMG, he was fantastic. He slowly and patiently took his time along the carpet signing autographs for everyone. When he got to us, I said “Good luck Daniel!" and he turned right to me and said “Thank you very much” Sigh…There will be crushes. My new friend made on line, Stephanie, is equally crushing.Orlando winked right at her after he read her cheeky autograph sign that said “I lost my number, can I have yours?” Ha!
Photos from the night are now online. Also, apparently E! is showing their coverage tonight, so tune in and keep your eyes open for me. I'm the one in the bright orange scarf and beige coat contstantly calling out for Jeff Goldblum...lol
